Position Purpose:  
Responsible for reviewing and approving hazardous and non-hazardous material for disposal in accordance with site capabilities, approved permits, and appropriate regulatory requirements. Determines acceptability or rejection of chemical components of materials utilizing analytical data, MSDS’s, and facility information. Ensures that the approval process is in proper compliance with company and regulatory policies and procedures. 

Primary Duties/responsibilities: 
 

• Tracks profile submissions and ensures that profile reviews are completed promptly.
• Completes the review process on a variety of materials and assigns pricing/process codes to waste streams that are approved.
• Assigns parameters in laboratory testing of individual samples to verify material.
• Provide constructive input on existing and/or proposed policies, regulations, and other pertinent changes to expedite the approval process at the facility.
• Assists in the technical training for facility.
• Maintains the pre-approval queue for generic approvals.
• Tracks and manages laboratory sales sample submissions and provides feedback to the branches upon completion.
• Performs a detailed manifest review for each load that arrives on site to ensure everything is correct and compliant.
• Manages annual profile renewals.
• Performs calculations on each profile to complete the profile elemental composition section of the blend spreadsheet.
• Drafts waste acceptance letters for each approved profile and provides to the customer service/sales team.
• Become proficient in Veolia iSeries computer system related to profiles, pre-approvals, and approvals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background: 

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related discipline
• 5 to 6 years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience
• 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

• Computer proficiency with Microsoft and/or Google Suite
• Ability to adapt in a fast paced environment
• Strict attention to detail
• Strong team player
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines
• Strong customer orientation

Required Certification / Licenses / Training: 

• OSHA HAZWOPER Certification
