Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Director of Asset Management will be responsible for developing the asset management strategy for water and wastewater treatment facilities of the Veolia Northeast Region in accordance with the company objectives. This position provides direction and support to local Northeast operation leaders and staff to promote the use of asset management concepts and to meet contractual and State requirements. This role will require strong leadership and influential skills in collaborating with a variety of functional roles across the organization.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Interface with VP’s, Project Managers, Regional and Corporate technical support to identify opportunities to improve Asset Management practices and to meet contractual obligations. Oversee, direct and supervise the development and implementation of asset management systems (CMMS). Interface with Business Development to support proposal pursuit, create new asset management opportunities and participate in growth initiatives.

Duties include:

  • Leading the development of effective asset management process and standard aligned with the Organization and Project objectives.
  • Conducting optimization analysis and supporting local management to ensure that all Asset Management activities, documents and other services meet contract requirements meet Federal and State laws as well as contractual requirements. 
  • Supporting operations, providing expertise, coaching internal staff and developing training programs to promote an asset management culture change.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the implementation, development and standardization of the Enterprise Asset Management System.
  • Analyses presents asset life cycle data in support of program development, assesses efficiency of capex projects triggered by the asset management program.
  • Contributing to the business growth initiative through due diligence, proposal writing, and support to the operational team related to asset management during the transition phase of new contracts.
  • Providing technology watch about asset management and representing Veolia North America in the relevant professional organizations.
  • Ensures corporate technical and environmental health and safety/security standards are incorporated into the asset management plans.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job involves working primarily indoors with occasional outdoor site inspections under a variety of weather conditions. Working safely in both indoor and outdoor situations to observe and report and potential direct field planning and work activities will be expected.  This job may include up to 40% of time traveling to field operations.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • 10 + years in the delivery of management programs or related project management experience.
  • 5 + years of management experience, including staff supervision.
  • Degree in Engineering preferred; Management and/or business or equivalent related experience in water utility infrastructure management.  Experience may be substitute for educational requirements.
  • Preferred experience in a maintenance or operations of water and wastewater environ

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  •  Strong leadership and influential skills in collaborating with a variety of functional roles across the organization.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel including but not limited to Mayor, City Manager, City Council, General Manager, Senior Management Team, Supervisor, Manager and Utility Technician.
  • Ingenuity and initiative to resolve conflicting priorities and to meet assignment deadlines.  
  • Ability to prepare accurate, effective and easily understood written communications, persuasive presentations, and reports. 
  • Strategic and forward-thinker
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices related to Asset Management 
  • Successful managerial and supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices needed for effective use of CMMS such as HxGN EAM, KloudGin, LLumin, JobCal, MP-2, CityWork, OWAM
  • Experience with the various stages of managing infrastructure assets such as operations and maintenance field activities, data and information management systems, information analysis, hydraulic modeling, asset criticality risk models, capital and planning.  
  • It is desirable to have knowledge of the methods, techniques, principles, practices, and management of water/wastewater treatment, water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • Valid Driver’s license and safe driving record.
