Job Description

The Commercial Technical Manager is an integral member of the Technical & Performance department, Engineering Group, under the leadership of the Commercial team, providing leadership and hands-on technical support for energy related projects. Energy related projects include (at a minimum) production of electricity, steam, chilled water, and hot water; balance of plant systems; and plant and underground distribution systems. 
The Commercial Technical Manager function includes the following:
•Support existing projects in various capacities including operations support, interim management, process troubleshooting and optimization, energy efficiency, maintenance management systems and maintenance improvements, 
•Training: Technical, SOP and safety improvements.
•Lead and participate in Root Cause investigations and determine appropriate corrective actions.
•Provide startup and commissioning operations support for new short term or long term energy related projects.
•Provide due diligence support to new business development to the extent that the Business Development group or Process Engineering group needs and requests such support.

The successful candidate will join a Veolia team committed to safety and the environment. You are a self-starter and will actively interface and communicate with clients to establish strong working relationships. As a result, you will have impeccable written and oral communication skills, extensive experience with Microsoft Office and Google Applications. This person will be a strong at prioritization since this role will balance multiple projects, priorities and deadlines. Travel will be required an estimated 50% of the time, including occasional weekends.

Certain assignments will include working directly with hazardous processes and conditions.

Job Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, energy systems, or civil engineering preferred or else a degree in some other STEM field (Science, Technology Engineering or Math)
•Operator Certification or other equivalent confirmation of specialty skills is highly desirable. Examples include energy plant Operator’s license, PLC/SCADA, Database or CAD training.

Desired Experience and Skills:
•At least 5-10 years progressive experience in design, project construction, field service or operations of energy related systems, energy efficiency, plant operations.
•Management experience and/or experience serving as a technical or functional leader on projects.
•The ability to systematically troubleshoot process and operations problems.
•Understand the application of Codes & Standards and implementation of compliance criteria.
•Direct field experience working in a variety of energy fields including energy generation (Carnot Cycle & Bratton Cycle; standard boiler & Co-Generation), Underground steam, hot water, chilled water, and condensate returns.
•Creative ability to develop unique solutions for complex technical problems that may include the design of new systems or development of solutions having few or no precedents.
•Ability to conduct due diligence activities, including process, compliance, safety, production limits, maintenance, staffing, etc.
•Ability to identify physical and/or operational improvements, and develop staffing plans and budgets.
•Prior experience with instrumentation, PID controllers, ladder logic, interlocks P&IDs loop drawings, 3-phase electrical phase a plus.
•Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, timely, effective and easily understood written communications, reports and presentations for management, staff and clients.
•Demonstrated verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with peers, management and clients.
•Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record if operating company vehicle.
