Job Description

The Director reports to the Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy (GR/PP) and will work across all Veolia’s lines of business to create and maintain favorable operating environments and support growth. This position requires an ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders including executives, sales and business development teams, government entities, non-governmental organizations, industry organizations and customers. The Director position requires a candidate with excellent analytical, program management and communication skills as well as experience using public policy and leveraging industry organizations to advance Veolia’s positions. The Director also supports the Vice President and GR/PP team with public policy research including executive and administrative orders, regulation, legislation, and grants and incentives that support existing activities and drive business growth. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB DUTIES
  • Plan and execute strategy to protect existing operation and support business growth. 
  • Support business development efforts aligned with current offers and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide timely communication on government actions driving our lines of business.
  • Complete market specific research such as community and government profiles.
  • Engage with our industrial organization network to leverage their resources and advance company priorities.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION
  • BA or BS degree in Business, Policy, Marketing, Energy/Environment/Sustainability or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Business or related field preferred. 

JOB SKILLS / CHARACTERISTICS
  • Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to meet and prioritize the demands of multiple project deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, responsiveness and the ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects to timely and successful conclusions.
  • Flexibility in terms of travel and work schedule.
  • GSuite, Word Processing, PowerPoint, Excel and database management skills.

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, analytical, strategic, organizational and project management skills.
  • Comfortable acting as company representative in a variety of business and public settings, including, but not limited to, legislative hearings and community meetings.
  • At ease in a fast-paced operating environment; ability to prioritize and execute on numerous, sometimes competing priorities.
  • 10 years of industry experience in relevant energy or environmental business. Governmental or P3 (public-private partnership) experience a plus. 
  • 5 years of progressively more responsible positions in relevant organization or role. Sales and marketing experience with a focus on sustainability a plus.
  • Experience with legal and market research.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Located in downtown Boston Massachusetts headquarters office. Fast paced work environment, with the requirement to be able to work effectively with management, business development and other staff.
