Job Description

Pay Rate: $15.00 - $19.00, Per Hour

Position Purpose: 

Under direction of a senior engineer, the Engineering Co-op / Intern perform various management and engineering support functions of conceptual, design, and construction of water infrastructure projects.  Projects include a range of infrastructure improvements and may vary dependent on specific business needs upon start of internship.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure improvements may include but are not limited to storage tank construction and rehabilitation, water and sewer treatment facility upgrades, water booster stations, sewer pump stations, water and sewer mains.
  • Specific tasks may include design reviews and assistance, construction inspection, management, data gathering, material inventory support for construction projects, coordination of water service interruptions with contractors, internal planning, and correspondence with customer service department and customers.
  • Must be willing to travel to project locations within Rockland and Westchester Counties, NY.  Exact project locations to be determined based on business needs upon start of employment.  Employee will be asked to report to West Nyack, NY for the beginning of each workday.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED and working towards Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering majors preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills. 
  • Abilities to set daily priorities and work schedules.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff, management, third party contractors, and customers.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • If required, must be able and willing to drive company vehicles to project sites.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Work experience in engineering or construction related fields preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to physically navigate construction sites that may have uneven and unstable surfaces, and have the basic skills to maintain a safe culture while on construction sites.
