Veolia Water Technologies, Inc. Dayton is currently seeking an Environmental Technician to work in the Dayton Ohio area.

This position is a field position that works on-site at a client’s location performing various tasks to ensure compliance with environmental regulations including: Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, SARA, TSCA, ISO 14001, and other environmental functions as assigned.  Work schedule (40 hrs/wk) may include working on a Saturday or a Sunday on a weekly basis.  Traits of a good candidate: responsible, tenacious, detail-oriented, thorough, and good time-management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Waste management activities, including:
  • Hazardous, non hazardous, and universal waste sampling, identification, labeling, storage, inspections, and shipping
  • Shipping materials in accordance with DOT requirements
  • Training of plant personnel in the proper handling of waste materials
  • Provide leadership in recycling programs
  • Management of wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater activities including:
  • Scheduling sampling and monitoring activities to satisfy permit requirements
  • Evaluating sample data for compliance
  • Preparing monthly and annual compliance reports such as DMRs and annual water withdrawal reports
  • Completing quarterly stormwater inspections
  • Assist environmental engineer or EHS manager with:
  • NPDES or POTW permit applications
  • Air permit monitoring, reporting, and permitting
  • Assist with Tier 2 and TRI Reporting 
  • Assist with ISO 14001 program creation and maintenance
  • Assist with spill response and reporting
  • Comply with all client and Veolia safety programs 
  • May provide assistance in operating the wastewater treatment plant including:
  • Physical/chemical treatment of wastewater
  • Basic analysis of wastewater to determine proper treatment
  • Evaluate maintenance needs and schedule repairs with facility maintenance
  • Coordinate with Veolia purchasing department to order wastewater treatment supplies, such as equipment and chemicals, in order to maintain the client’s wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Compile data for monthly operating reports to Veolia management and client management.


Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Environmental Science related field (minimum).
  • Must be proficient with Google Suite and MS Office.
  • 5+ years experience in environmental compliance management required.
