Pay Rate: $80,000 - $100,000

Position Purpose: 

Under direction of the Production Manager, the Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance and appearance for all  facilities, including HVAC, security system, landscape management, painting, lighting structures and maintenance, overall plant esthetics. Responsible for managing and negotiation with contractor services. This position will be responsible for the presence and condition of the Edward C. Little Water Recycling (ECLWRF) and satellite facilities infrastructure. Compose, manage and communicate rules and guidelines for all UWES staff regarding facility maintenance, with the support from management staff. This role will require maintenance training, documenting, and reporting.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned capital improvements projects.
  • Provide support as needed to Maintenance Manager on reviewing and advising on PM practices, particularly in establishing time estimate for PM work completion.
  • Provide support as needed to the Maintenance Manager in identifying, developing, mechanical/electrical training.
  • Works closely with Warehouse Tech to better manage warehouse/spare parts inventory.
  • Management of disposed assets.
  • Facility maintenance, including landscaping, janitorial services, street sweeping, yard lighting, and any aesthetics improvement project.
  • Provide daily report on activities to Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure proper and timely flow of information with Manager and with CMMS.
  • Provide support as needed to the Maintenance Manager in identifying and developing safety policies and procedures.
  • Provide support as needed to the Maintenance Manager in auditing Company safety policies (LOTO, confined space, hot work permit).
  • Provide support as needed to the Maintenance Manager in identifying and developing new Job Safety Analysis and Safe Work Plans.
  • Reviews weekly JSA/SWP of his assigned staff.
  • Provide support as needed to the Maintenance Manager in evaluating all predictive and corrective maintenance procedures through the use of the computerized maintenance system and/or work order reports review.
  • Provide support as needed to the Maintenance Manager in evaluating quality of the work and information on work orders reports.
  • Supervises and inspects works and small capital improvement projects performed by his assigned staff.
  • Coordinates with other plant personnel and other departments in completing planned work.
  • Supervises minimum of two (2) employees.
  • Provides necessary training and development to direct reports.
  • Track employee training obligations, sick time, LTD/STD, etc. as necessary to effectively plan work considering staffing levels.
  • Responsible for conducting bi-annual performance reviews and work evaluations of all direct reports.
  • Approves staff time-sheets.
  • Provides after our Technical Support on a need basis to Maintenance Manager, coordinates with outside vendors and contractors to ensure proper equipment and spare parts procurement.
  • Participates in incidents investigations as needed.
  • Assist with special projects as required.
  • Coordination of WB's special events.

The employee may be exposed to odors, silica, dust, fumes, smoke, gases, greases, oils, electrical energy, solvents, and vibrations. The employee may work on slippery/uneven surfaces, around machinery with moving parts, moving objects/vehicles, and ladder/scaffolding, below ground and may be exposed to water and other liquid materials.

The employee will be expected to follow the H&S Manual guidelines and wear the appropriate PPE as necessary to perform the position.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years experience as Mechanic, preferably in a water or wastewater facility or an industrial facility.
  • At least five (5) years experience as a supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communications skills and ability to interact with Client and high level interlocutors.
  • Well developed supervisory and coaching skills.
  • Knowledge of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance programs using computerized maintenance management techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of equipment found in water and/or wastewater treatment facilities (e.g. pumps, motors, compressors, pipes, valves, blowers, gearboxes, etc.).
  • Ability to develop and implement procedures for proper maintenance of facility maintenance equipment.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to interact with Client and high level interlocutors.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Excellent safety and work ethics.
  • Ability to take initiatives.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • CA Water Environmental Association Mechanical Maintenance Grade III license (If candidate does not possess the required certificate, he will have 24 months to obtain required certificate.).
  • A valid CA Driver's License required.

The incumbent must also have the ability to distinguish color and shades. Technical dexterity is required in performing chemical and instrumental analytical procedures.
