Job Description
Summary: Veolia is the contractor for the water distribution system, wastewater treatment facility and collection system for the City of Freeport.Primary Functions:
- Field maintenance; repairing/replacing water/sewer lines as needed.
- Reading water meters; turn on/off water service; installing water meters.
- Maintaining lift stations for the collection system; mowing and weed eating.
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment facility (classes available for obtaining wastewater and/or water operator license).
- Tend equipment including pumps, motors, generators, valves, blowers.
- Performs routine and preventative maintenance as assigned.
- Performs manual labor; performing duties in a responsible and professional manner consistent with standard operating practices in order to meet State and Federal standards and rules to protect the public health and environment.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school or GED with the ability to communicate effectively in writing or orally (maps, operational, maintenance, safety and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Some vocational training and mechanical aptitude preferred, with the ability to read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, panels, computer consoles and other equipment.
- Valid Driver's License and safe driving record.
