Transport Coordinator/Assistant in Ontario.

Position Summary



The job holder oversees the company’s rolling equipment fleet and commercial driver pool and provides ongoing support for the application of transportation regulations required by the company and various levels of government. Ensure that all rolling equipment is mechanically safe to hit the road.

Responsibilities


Overview


  • Foster compliance with company and transportation policies and regulations by monitoring, reporting and supporting the divisions as required.
  • Interact with the various transportation authorities to ensure the maintenance of Veolia’s safety ratings with these authorities and report to division and regional managers as required. 
  • Research and transfer knowledge for all transportation safety and compliance related information.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT policies, licenses and permits for USA vehicles and drivers.
  • Maintain audit files for driver qualification, driver logs, vehicle information, collisions, convictions, inspections.
  • Perform transport audits in all divisions to ensure that they are compliant to different transport policies and regulations. 



Vehicle Services
  • Maintain a database of all rolling equipment (Trucks, Trailers, Light vehicles and special equipment)
  • Provide vehicle information as required for insurance, management, purchasing, leasing, finance etc.


Mechanical Experience
  • Mechanical knowledge on various type of rolling equipment
  • Provide a rough estimate on the condition and life cycle of a vehicle
  • As the fleet is old, be able to propose a renewal plan based on the mechanical, financial overview of the actual fleet

Driver Services


  • Request, gather, record and file Driver Qualification documents – new hires and monthly updates. 



Compliance Administration



  • Purchase, monitor and report on monthly MTO CVOR and DOT SMS report.


Job Requirements

Requirements & Skills

Academic requirements
 
  • Diploma in administration, transport or related field
  • English (spoken and written) Bilingual English and French an asset

  • Ability to analyze and summarize
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, event driven environment
  • Well organized and capable of managing several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, administrators and management
  • Autonomy and initiative to work alone on tasks and as a team when required 
  • Discipline – Keep the records up to date
  • Customer service oriented


Experience knowledge
  • 2-5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Google Suite and Internet use


Work Environment


The job holder spends approximately 20% of his/her time traveling and 80% in an office including attending a few meetings. This time allocation may change depending on future projects.
