Job Description

Veolia Energy has entered a long-term O&M Services Agreement with Georgia Renewable Power. GRP is currently building two 65 MW biomass-fueled power plants in north Georgia. These plants, in Franklin and Madison counties, respectively, are targeting Commercial Operation at the start of the second quarter next year. Veolia Energy will be supporting the commissioning and startup, and is putting together high performance teams for each plant now.

The Maintenance Technician will directly execute maintenance work on power plant operations systems and equipment under the direction of the maintenance manager.

Scope & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established Company/site policies
  • Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work conditions
  • Participates in troubleshooting equipment identifying root cause of failure 
  • Operate all hand/power tools in a competent manner
  • Install, repair, replace, and trouble shoot plant equipment to include: piping systems, valves, pumps and boilers.
  • Experience completing alignment of pumps, fans, and motors
  • Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled
  • Demonstrated ability to “tack” or “fitup” weld
  • Demonstrated ability to operate cutting and burning equipment 
  • Experience repairing or replacing conveying systems – drag chains, flight conveyors, and belt conveyors.
  • Must be able to work overtime and rotating shifts as required
  • Exercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipment 


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of boiler and turbine plant operations
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager


Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 5 – 7 years experience in: pipe fitting, pipeline repair/maintenance, valve/expansion joint/maintenance, and/or steam plant maintenance of high pressure power boilers, large fans, pumps, or steam turbines 
  • Valid drivers license and insurable by Company’s vehicle insurance carrier
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment including but not limited to forklifts, man-lifts, scissor-lifts, bobcats, front end loaders, or lulls.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as boilers, tanks and manholes
  • Ability to climb and tolerate heights up to 100 feet
  • Industrial production plant environment
  • Ability to tolerate heat
