Position Purpose: 

The roles and responsibilities will include exposure to income tax accounting and compliance. From a tax accounting perspective, a qualified professional will become knowledgeable with the various aspects of income tax provisions including preparing and reviewing the effective tax rate and the details of deferred taxes pursuant to ASC 740, ASC 980 and IAS12. From a tax compliance perspective, a qualified professional will become familiar with the federal, state and local corporate tax filings for the Company.

Primary Duties/responsibilities:

  • Manage the income tax accounting and tax compliance processes.
  • Manage income tax related technology, supporting income tax provision process and all tax-related PP&E accounting through the Company’s PowerTax system.
  • Analyze new transactions/accounts to determine potential book-tax differences and other related tax accounting treatment as well as the related impact to the tax returns.
  • Collaborate with Utility Rates Department to prepare responses regarding tax account inquiries and requests from regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor new accounting policies and pronouncements to determine proper tax treatment.
  • Assist in tax financial planning & analysis and tax management reporting.
  • Prepare and support IFRS reporting requirements in the Company’s global reporting and consolidation system.
  • Help form and comply with mandated controls and procedures to ensure compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and or Business/Finance Degree.
  • CPA, MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
  • Approximate 5-15 year range of related work experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work autonomously but also collaborate with various other functions within Finance and Operations.
