Job Description

In Poughkeepsie, NY, Veolia is responsible for the operations and maintenance of a 10 mgd Water Pollution control plant and pump stations. To support operations, we are seeking an operations and lab technician. 
  • Operates and maintains water/wastewater treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in water/wastewater treatment facility to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements.
  • Performs a variety of chemical, biological, and physical tests required for research, development or quality control. Compiles data for reports. Assists in special studies in the laboratory and in the field.


Job Requirements

Requirements: 
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Additional Education and/or course work in Biology/Chemistry is strongly desired. 
 - Willingness to obtain wastewater certification within 1-2 years.
- Strong mechanical aptitude required, some labratory experience is preferred. 
- Weekend on call rotation as assigned.
- Must live within 30 min from residence to site.
- Able to perform tasks requiring standing and walking for extended periods of time. Able to climb stairs, squat, and work with hands extended above head and in front of body. Able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
-Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Requires working in outside and inside environments with noise and all temperatures and climatic conditions, and must be able to work under adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a safe driving record in conjunction with policies and procedures.
- Must comply with Respiratory Protection and all other Safety Requirements.
