Our Gulf Coast branch provides services for our customers located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. Within the Gulf Coast branch, Veolia operates a hazardous waste incinerator in Port Arthur, TX, a service center in Baytown, TX and a service center in College Park, GA. The Gulf Coast branch offers the following services: Lab Chemical Services, On-Site Services, Transportation, Household Hazardous Waste, Reactive Chemicals, Remediation, Training Services, Specialty Services, Drum Management, Incineration, Fuels Blending, Recycling and Radioactive Waste Management.

Job Summary:
Responsible for supervising and scheduling day-to-day operational activities to include troubleshooting, health, safety, and environmental compliance issues and policies, quality assurance/control, determining cost of supplies versus labor, provide technical expertise on operational modifications, hiring and training of subordinates, etc.
Assist immediate supervisor in the annual preparation of goals versus forecasted budgeted allowances as well as conducting special exploratory assignments.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Enforces all compliance, health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with departmental and regional requirements.
• Oversee the excavating, transporting, handling, sorting labeling, or collecting both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
• Oversee loading, unloading movements and processing hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, and recyclable materials for industrial clients.
• Oversee the facility operations maintenance program.
• Oversee compliance with all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all other governmental regulations.
• Oversee removal of hazardous material from the site, equipment and facilities using standard industrial and specific or specialized decontamination cleaning techniques.
• Ensure safe operations of equipment such as balers, shredders, grinders, extractors, pumps, tanks and pressure washers.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of materials into containers or onto trucks by hand or using equipment.
• Attends and arranges for all required training courses.
• Oversees operation of all equipment including maintenance to ensure optimum utilization.
• Assists with the training of team members to ensure appropriate performance standards within the various functional areas of the site.
• Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting alternative solutions to existing and/or potential problems.



Job Requirements

Education/Experience:
• BS in Chemistry or related science discipline or equivalent work experience required
• 4 to 6 years of hazardous waste experience preferred

Certification/Licenses:
• HAZWOPER Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
• Extensive knowledge in the following areas: DOT, EPA, TSCA, and OSHA
• Knowledge of site capabilities and limitations prior to treatment and/or shipping hazardous & non-hazardous waste materials to ensure efficient disbursement and storage.
