POSITION PURPOSE

The successful candidate will be responsible for Product Stewardship and Technical
Service for the Sulfuric Acid Regeneration Services Business (RGS) for Veolia North
America. This position provides Customer Technical support with:
o On-site safety surveys of customer’s facilities
o Safety, emergency response, and technical training for customer’s personnel,
carriers, HazMat Groups, and Community First Responders
o Engineering technical assistance for equipment and facilities
o Provide immediate support during customer incidents and emergencies
o Aid in Planning, execution and Critique of Emergency Response drills.
o Responding to Customer questions, issues regarding our products.
o Product technical documentation including digital and training media support
o Coordination, organization, leadership of Product Stewardship Workshops and
Seminars

The Product Stewardship and Technical Service Consultant works directly with the
manufacturing sites, carriers, local community emergency responders, and the customers
in all issues relating to Sulfuric Acid products. This function is part of the Acid
Technology Center and is leveraged across the business and all of the acid plants.
In addition to the above responsibilities, this position is responsible for RGS American
Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care Product Safety Code, which sets forth a set
of practices to manage and enhance product safety. Veolia is committed to a culture of

products life cycle that goes beyond regulatory requirements.
Expanded managerial responsibilities are expected to occur over time, which could
increase the impact of the role within the business.
Detailed Responsibilities:

o Ensuring timely Periodic on-site safety surveys of customer’s facilities
and for RGS’s customers of non-fuming sulfuric acid, spent sulfuric acid,
sulfur trioxide (SO3), oleums and chlorosulfonic acid (CSA) including
responsibility for first order process..
o Responsible for effectively assisting customers in the design of unloading
and handling facilities, as well as making recommendations for first aid,
medical treatment, personal protective equipment (PPE), spill mitigation
and materials of construction selection.

o Safety training for customer’s operations, maintenance, engineering,
safety and supervisory personnel.
o Engineering technical assistance for equipment and facilities including
recommended suppliers, materials of construction, basic functionality and
control.
o Emergency response guidance, training and feedback for customers,
carriers and local community Hazardous Materials units
o Responding to Quality, product handling or operability issues in
coordination with other business resources
o Responsible for technical support for SDS development and periodic
updates..
o Coordinating Cyclical Product Stewardship reviews for RGS.
o Coordination, organization of Workshops and Seminars on Safety and
Product handling for our various products such as
▪ Fuming Acids Spill Mitigation Training Workshops
▪ Non-Fuming Sulfuric Acid Safety Seminars
▪ Spent Sulfuric Acid Safety Seminars
▪ Fuming Sulfuric Acid Safety Symposium

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in chemical, mechanical or industrial engineering
(or equivalent)
● 10+ or more years of experience engineer (increased responsibility commensurate
with level of demonstrated experience)
● Demonstrated strengths in getting results, meeting commitments, problem solving
and continuous improvement through others and directly. This includes
development of direct reports.
● Demonstrated capability to influence management and colleagues in support
significant process initiatives as well as cohesive/complex process improvement
strategies
● Demonstrated ability to work effectively with or lead diverse teams including
operators, mechanics, management, other engineers and leaders
● Demonstrated verbal and writing skills and public speaking skills
● Experience working in a PSM regulated manufacturing environment
● Able to travel 35-50% of time
Preferred
● Experience with high hazard chemical product manufacturing and product safety.
● Experience with large teams in a virtual work environment
● Degree in Chemical Engineering or related experience.
● Experience with fuming sulfuric (or other) acids products and associated
handling, design, and best practices
