Job Description

Veolia Water Technologies is seeking a Technical Applications Manager: Instrumentation, Connectivity, & Controls to be based out of the Dayton, OH area. 

This position is responsible for proposing a Digital strategy for the different segments of the Industrial Solutions business unit. That will involve designing, developing and maintaining digital and remote monitoring and control systems for our organization. You will work closely with the IT department and other stakeholders to ensure that our systems are fully functional and meet the organization's needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and assists in the development of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) with a focus on improving overall performance of systems.
  • Contributes to the development of control concepts and strategies for all Business Unit activities 
  • Acts as a subject matter expert to clarify customer needs and expectations
  • Assists in providing technical and functional guidance to field force including the sales, application and integration of Hubgrade
  • Actively interacts with Veolia suppliers and other BU stakeholders during the design and  development process for new systems or equipment
  • Support BU by providing controls and Hubgrade start-up, commissioning support, performance tests, and troubleshooting
  • Assists in updating technical documents and manual preparation
  • Collaborates with various engineers and CAD drafters as required to design electrical controls based on both internal and external customer specifications
  • Participates in design improvement discussions within the business unit
  • Ensure that utilized PLC and Microprocessor control systems are fully functional and meet the organization's needs
  • Main point of contact for troubleshooting and debugging control systems as needed
  • Will ensure that systems are secure and meet data privacy standards
  • Collaborate with the IT department and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the field of digital and remote monitoring
  • Will become versed in the connection to and utilization of Hubgrade and will lead BU needs in this area
  • Helps train new or more junior Engineers

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, other related field, or sufficient field experience
  • Must be proficient in the following programs:  Google Office Suite, AutoCAD, PLC/HMI programming software (Allen-Bradley and Siemens); 
  • Knowledge of SCADA (FactoryTalk View SE, Wonderware, Cimplicity or other);
  • Knowledge of networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus);
  • Knowledge of various communication methods including cellular and similar
  • Knowledge of water treatment equipment and processes is an asset;
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years of related work experience
