The Industrial Operations Support Team Technical Manager is an integral member of the Industrial Water Operations Team and provides hands-on technical support for industrial projects including the following:
  • Supporting existing projects with process monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization, chemical and energy efficiency, maintenance improvements, technical training, standard operating procedure training and safety improvements. Process Control Plans and Computer based Maintenance Management Systems are key tools that are used to provide this support.
  • Support existing projects in their pursuit of scope expansion opportunities, with the business development, capital projects and/or process engineering groups.
  • Provide due diligence support to new business development.
  • Provide startup and commissioning operations support for new short term or long term industrial projects.

The successful candidate must:

  • Be able to interface with the Client in person and via professional communications,
  • Be able to perform tasks including working directly with hazardous chemicals and conditions,
  • Have strong written and oral communication skill, with extensive experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suites software,
  • Be able to balance multiple projects, priorities and deadlines as necessary,
  • Be highly motivated, organized self-starter will need to work both alone and in a team environment both in the office and directly within the industrial sites,
  • Be able to travel an estimated 50 % with occasional weekends.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in chemical, mechanical, environmental or civil engineering preferred.
  • Operator Certification or other equivalent confirmation of specialty skills is highly desirable. Examples include WWTP or WTP licenses, PLC/SCADA, Database or CAD training.

Desired Experience and Skills:
  • At least 5-10 years progressive experience in design, project construction, field service or operations of industrial water, wastewater or residuals treatment systems, by-product recovery/reuse systems, and/or water reuse systems.
  • Ability to systematically troubleshoot process and operations problems. Identify physical and/or operational improvements, and develop staffing plans and budgets.
  • Experience working in a variety of industries including Primary Metals Processing, Mining, Oil Refining, Oil and Gas Exploration and Production, Chemical Manufacturing, etc.
  • Creative ability to develop unique solutions for complex technical problems that may include the design of new systems or development of solutions having few or no precedents.
  • Ability to conduct due diligence activities, including process, compliance, safety, production limits, chemicals, maintenance, staffing, etc.
  • Prior experience with instrumentation, PID controllers, ladder logic, interlocks P&IDs loop drawings, 3-phase electrical phase a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, timely, effective and easily understood written communications, reports and presentations for management, staff and clients.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record if operating company vehicles.
  • Must be able to meet client requirements to gain site access such as passing/acquiring: background check, drug screening, safety training (such as OSHA 8hr, Basic Plus, and/or Hazwoper) and TWIC card.
