Job Description

  • Repair, troubleshoot and complete preventative maintenance tasks for pumps, motors, and water treatment plant equipment
  • Install and start up new equipment as needed
  • Maintain all issued tools; monitor and test equipment needed to perform maintenance and repair activities
  • Maintain detailed records of repair and maintenance tasks completed
  • Perform general grounds and building maintenance including painting and housekeeping
  • Establish and adhere to a system of undertaking proactive maintenance tasks
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Must have ability to safely operate motorized vehicles and construction-type equipment
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.)

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or one to two years of experience in a similar position, preferably at a treatment facility
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
  • Knowledge to install, diagnose, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment used in a water treatment plant; ability to acquire additional skills and knowledge to maintain technical competencies
  • Knowledge of hazards, safe work methods, and safety regulations pertaining to the essential functions of the job
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Skill to perform inspections and diagnose mechanical problems; skill to use appropriate judgement pertaining to work methods and tools; ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Skill in the operation of test equipment and various hand and power tools
  • Skill in verbal and written communication and proper documentation of tasks completed
  • Skill to read and follow the procedures outlined in the operation and maintenance manuals for diagnosing various equipment problems
  • Skill to initiate and communicate with equipment manufacturers to resolve any equipment related problems
  • Skill to read and interpret plant equipment and piping installation drawings
