Essential Job Functions:
The list of essential job functions below does not identify all duties performed by this
position.

  • Required to follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties. Will also be required to participate in all required safety  training activities, as well as be expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.
  • Adheres to established preventive maintenance schedule. Performs routine maintenance duties such as repairs, shutdowns and the collection of trending information for the  Maintenance Lead or Project Manager.
  • Keep track of spare parts as they are used and complete Work Orders to replace items as necessary. Assist in physical inventories.
  • Must provide current, timely, accurate, and complete data for all work assigned and enter into the appropriate database (CMMS).
  • Promptly reports any operational problems with machines or equipment to the Maintenance Lead or Project Manager.
  • Learn to inspect and become proficient at mechanical troubleshooting to determine repairs needed.
  • Dismantles equipment to gain access to and repairs defective parts using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing devices.
  • Re-assembles and tests equipment ensuring safe and efficient operating condition is restored.
  • Learn to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic equipment & instrumentation.
  • Performs manual labor including cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds as required as well as properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies. Maintains a neat and clean work area.
  • Performs other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.
  • Operates vehicles, mobile equipment, and material handling equipment for operational and maintenance purposes.
  • Completes other tasks as requested by the Maintenance Lead or Project Manager.
  • Dependable, reliable and predictable attendance is required.
  • Must possess a valid, in-state motor vehicle operator’s license at all times.

Tech will be required to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, Plant shutdowns, any
emergency weather event occurring during their shift schedule, as well as scheduled holidays or as needed. Responds promptly to emergency call-outs.

Qualifications

The Maintenance Tech-I operates from site procedures under minimum supervision, performing duties both independently and in teams. The expectation is that you cross-train with all functions of maintenance (mechanical, electrical, and instrument) operations and loading.

  • The Tech-I must perform work in a safe manner resulting in no accidents and in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The Tech must effectively communicate information to Leadership and fellow Plant resources, relative to the condition of the Plant equipment and performance as well as troubleshooting and providing suggestions for Plant improvements.
  • Must also perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.
  • Must be able to pass Government Background Check to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card) Certification.
  • Must be able to qualify for the DuPont Spruance Contractor Badge Certification.

Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent - Required
Associates Degree in Engineering or related field - Desired
Special Training achieved through Military “A” school or equivalent - Desired

Experience in motors, pumps, welding or machining - Highly Desirable

  • Sufficient reading, writing, communication, and math skills to perform job duties.
  • Ability to understand technical material.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to enter data.
  • Basic skills in computers and data input devices, email, application, and office software.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and to wear breathing apparatus for confined entry.
  • Ability to work from heights (high reach, scissor lift, and structural steel)

Additional Information

  • Hourly Pay minimum $37.00 to maximum $45.00
