Job Description

In Fall River, MA, Veolia operates water facilities: a 30.9-MGD pure oxygen secondary-activated sludge wastewater treatment plant, 15-dry-to-per-day multiple hearth furnace, 14 pump stations and a regional collection system. In addition, Veolia conducts industrial pretreatment program analyses and river sampling, and performs collection system rehabilitation, CSO tunnel management and 5,000-dry-tons-per-year sludge incineration and disposal.

To support these operations, Veolia is seeking an Shift Supervisor who will plan and coordinate activities of workers to operate and maintain wastewater treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in wastewater treatment facility to purify water to meet permit requirements and operational requirements. 

This is a split shift position covering the 3-11 and 11-7 shifts, will work some nights and weekends to support 24 hour operations as necessary.

Job Requirements

- MUST have at least a Grade 5 Massachusetts Wastewater License and the ability to obtain a Grade 6 within 6 months of hire. Grade 7 preferred. 
- 5 years in wastewater treatment environment with knowledge of methods, principles and practices of operating, maintaining and repairing water treatment plant equipment, instrumentation and associated systems.
- Lead experience or supervisory training required with understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation and health and safety.
- Must have an understanding of wastewater treatment process engineering, water quality assurance, maintenance strategy and laboratory procedures.
- General knowledge of budget preparation and understanding of cost control.
- Verbal communications and interpersonal skills in order to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.
- Ability to prepare accurate, timely, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports.
- PC skills and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software for preparing work related reports, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements. Ability to use computer systems for preparing work orders and purchasing requisitions.
- Must be able to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours to accommodate site needs.
