Job Description
Under the supervision of the Project Manager this position will ensure the effective operation of the various waste water/drinking water facilities assigned. This position will ensure safety and environmental compliance with all regulatory & corporate standards is met at all the sites operated.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain communications with the Lead Operator, Compliance Coordinator(s) and fellow operators regarding the status of water/waste water systems assigned;
- Assist Maintenance Manager when operator assistance and input is required;
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on the facilities' equipment and complete CMM/Safety work orders;
- Complete Unplanned maintenance and repairs, document on work orders and submit for billings;
- Follow the Standard Operating Procedures at each site;
- Conduct routine water/waste water analysis as well as routine chlorine residual analysis, turbidity readings and fluoride analysis;
- Perform routine calibration and verification of online and hand held instrumentation as per operations manuals;
- Perform routine Operational Checks as per SOPs;
- Collect and prepare samples for submission to accredited labs;
- Conduct monthly safety inspections on equipment and facilities assigned (over and above Certified Safety Rep inspections);
- Maintain records as required by the Regulators, Clients and Veolia;
- Ensure optimal operations of water/waste water treatment processes through chemical dosage assessment and adjustment;
- Perform locates of the underground plant for third parties;
- Conduct and/or coordinate repairs on the Distribution systems and their appurtenances;
- Take appropriate training as regulated to ensure current status or upgrades on licences and/or certificates;
- Investigate and document any customer complaints in regards to sites and systems operating;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- One of the following tickets:
- Valid Class 3 of Ontario Certification in Water Treatment for work assigned;
- Valid Class 3 of Ontario Certification in Water Distribution for work assigned;
- Valid Class 3 of Ontario Certification in Waste Water Treatment for work assigned (mandatory)
- **If candidates do not currently hold a Class 3 licence in the applicable categories, lower level licences may be considered / Wages might vary according to experience and certifications**
- Familiarity with the Ontario drinking water regulations as they apply to large and small municipally owned residential water systems;
- Ability to work or learn to work in various systems and levels;
- Grade 12;
- Demonstrated technical skills;
- 1 year of experience in the waste/ drinking water industry aligned with license level;
- Computer literacy;
- Valid driver's license;
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather.
Work Environment
Permanent full-time positions offered in the Goderich and Huron-Kinloss area, with a working schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm.
Candidates need to be available for weekend on-call rotation, as well as be comfortable to work outside in all weather conditions.
