Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The Lead, Technical Architect is the technical referent of their Domain. 

In collaboration with the Enterprise Architect team within the Office of the CTO, the Lead, Technical Architect reports to the Domain CIO and is responsible for creating and maintaining the Domain’s IT Architecture in compliance with company standards and Enterprise Architect principles. The Lead, Technical Architect uses their technical and industry knowledge, provides strategy & leadership and technical coherence to the Domain information systems architecture.

The Lead, Technical Architect will have a crucial role in large IT strategic projects to review and validate architectures and  Domain initiatives. The Lead, Technical Architect may also have a consultative role on smaller projects to advise them on company standards and Enterprise Architect principles. 

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & roadmap execution 

  • Provide a technology and digital roadmap (landscape, costs, …) for the Domain information systems architecture
  • Drive technical design, architecture and technical decisions
  • Assess platforms and technologies recommended or used by the Group/BU’s.
  • Incorporate RUN into strategic decisions (not just BUILD).
  • Lead technical topics of a project or issue
  • Follow CTO recommendations and contribute to CTO office maturation.
  • Ensure alignment between the organizational strategy and the technology.

Technical coherence & efficiency

  • Co-build new standards, take ownership of them and ensure they are followed by the project lead 
  • Leverage the Tech Architects community to share knowledge within VNA & Group and work across Domains to ensure consistency
  • Simplify the Domain technology landscape to increase efficiency
  • Advise on technology gaps and risks.
  • Seek opportunities to reduce technical debt and waste (ex: licensing)

Advisory & technical decision-making

  • Contribute to Architecture artifact creation & realization
  • Evangelize on tech vision, strategies, methodologies, processes
  • Act as a Gatekeeper of the tech stack
  • Liaise with Domain CIOs, CTO, BU leaders and domain peers
  • Act as a Trainer for the CIO and be an eye opener for the CIO
  • Provide guidance / recommendations on applications architecture

Governance & compliance

  • Ensure Tech best practices
  • Understand, support & follow security policies (security ambassador)

Travel up to 25%

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a technical analyst (or functional analyst or product owner or business analyst) or similar through experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field with progressive experience in Software Development.
  • Excellent communication skills supporting recommendations, design ideas, and analysis to team and stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of data management best practices.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Consulting Experience is a plus.

  • Technical expertise and knowledge on industry trends & solutions
  • Expertise with integration and development of best practices
  • Strong experience with Cloud, IAAS and PAAS
  • Knowledgeable on architecture solutions & application software architecture
  • Expert in Tech SME
