Chemist
Job Summary:
Responsible for performing a variety of routine analyses and screening of organic and inorganic substances to determine make up of hazardous waste and appropriate stabilization according to quality assurance and control procedures. Maintains the laboratory and equipment in compliance with regulatory and site specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs a variety of fingerprint screens, cyanide analysis and other wet chemistry methodologies to determine nature of hazardous substance.
• As required samples incoming bulk loads to establish nature of contents and determines packaging and appropriate disposal of samples according to proscribed procedures.
• Assist facility personnel with acceptance paperwork to ascertain correctness and enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the disposal of hazardous waste materials.
• Perform other laboratory analysis as requested by immediate supervisor.
• Comply with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies in the disposal of hazardous waste materials.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Certificate of Disposal (COD) Tracking
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:
•          Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related discipline required
•          4 years laboratory, hazardous waste industry or related work experience preferred.
