Job Description

Under the responsibility of the Veolia M&C East Region Vice President of Business Development, the incumbent is directly involved in the sales and business development activities in the municipal and commercial sectors with a heavy focus on energy systems operations. The person will work closely with the various stakeholders (consulting engineers, municipalities, commercial enterprises, industries, contractors, etc.) with emphasis on projects in the municipal, commercial and industrial markets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Responsible for promoting and developing Veolia NA M&C business lines, including those within the energy sector under the various commercial models, including O&M, FM, DBO, DBFO, etc. 
•Identify potential customers and develop relationships with key decision makers in the client organization in order to assess opportunities
•Participates in all business development activities (networking, relationship building, needs assessments, consultative selling, structuring, proposal generation, contract negotiation and mobilization);
•Manages sales activities within the territory. Veolia M&C East Region includes Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
•Develops and maintains good business relationships with customers on different levels and strategic suppliers to the company;
•Develops, in collaboration with the VP, Regional Operations teams, and functional departments, the projects commercial strategy and the positioning of the company;
•Actively follows-up on its bids in order to maximize the chances to convert bids into contracts;
•Works in collaboration with the other commercial departments of the company on identifying and developing common opportunities;
•Analyzes and actively communicates information about the market;
•Updates sales database (Salesforce CRM), prepares sales forecasts, while keeping abreast of key projects and accounts;
•Informs the VP of all activities, opportunities, issues and project deadlines.
•Ensures, on a continuous basis, knowledge of the market and territory.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS/AREA OF EXPERTISE
•Must have sales proven competencies (prospecting, managing accounts, building relationship with clients, etc.) within the energy businesses with a focus on energy systems operations and development. Clear and proven track record of closing complex transactions
•Is curious and interested in exploring opportunities;
•Must be a good negotiator (project closure and negotiation of terms and conditions), must be able to effectively communicate with existing and prospective clients;
•Must have exemplary communication skills (oral and written) in English. Must have ease in presentation to groups of various sizes;
•Must be able to establish relationships easily with a very strong listening ability;
•Ability to develop and present technical reports, proposals and PowerPoint documents;
•Must be organized, problem solver and self-directed;
•Must have in-depth knowledge of the marketing of energy and operational services;
•Must be self-sufficient and have a good sense of organization and planning of work (rigor and method);
•Must be exemplary in working with peers;
•Must be very adaptable, creative and have an analytical mind.

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
•College diploma or bachelor’s degree related to the job requirements (Engineering, Project Management, Consulting, Communications, etc.). 
•Project management, problem solving and consulting capabilities.
•A minimum of five years experience in energy operations, project management/ development, or related fields;
•Knowledge of sales in the municipal, commercial and industrial environment;
•Computer skills Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar.
•Knowledge of CRM computer system
•Fluent in English
•Strong writing, speaking and presentation skills
•Must have a valid driver’s license
•Willingness to travel

WORK ENVIRONMENT
•Will be required to travel for business purposes for approximately 50-75% of the time;
•Must be available to attend conventions, conferences sometimes on weekends;
•Must be able to work under pressure to achieve the expected results in a timely matter. Job conditions are based on an expectation of sales results.
