Veolia Water Technologies currently has an opportunity for you to join a dynamic team where you can be an integral part of the solution to Resourcing the World.  We are seeking a Director, Process Development to work in our Industrial Projects group in Moon Township, PA office.

Position Summary:

Principal Process Individual in the Industrial Projects group (IPG).  Provides direction and management of process engineering teams in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.  Supports process and Business Developers on process matters, in order to determine winning technical solutions.  Develops and mentors aggressive but achievable Process Guarantees on projects.
Further, provides technical guidance to the Process Engineering department, and continuing process support on projects during execution.
Advises management on technical issues, and in evaluation of new technologies from both inside and outside VWT, that may be of market interest to provide a competitive edge. The role requires deep technical knowhow and commercial understanding. 
Duties for this position include (but are not limited to): 

  • Leader of team developing winning technical solutions on industrial water and wastewater projects. Drive designs to lowest cost.
  • Engages early in and directs the development of projects from inception through process design optimization, life-cycle analysis, component selection and sizing.
  • Approves Process risk and risk mitigation on proposal design.
  • Signs off on Process Guarantees and Performance Test Procedure.
  • Travel to client sites to support Business Developers in data gathering, meetings and presentations related to process discussions; commissioning oversight / troubleshooting; training/mentoring of group personnel as needed
  • Assists other Business Units in technology evaluations and solutions on projects where IPG has specific process knowledge.
  • Develops and tracks new and innovative technologies and know-how, including obtaining patent approval and enhancing the VWT portfolio.
  • Understands intellectual property portfolio and participates with the Intellectual Property Committee of VWT.
  • Participate in evaluation of new/target technologies for acquisition or use in solutions.
  • Leads requests for corporate funding for R&D on internal processes or evaluation of new/target technologies
  • Participate in troubleshooting and solving process performance issues in the field.
  • Interface with affiliated offices, team members and support groups in the US, Paris and globally as necessary to locate technical expertise when and where needed. 
  • Two direct reports: Process Manager in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Entire group numbers about 15 individuals.
  • Advise process engineers on different technologies and methods of process design.
  • Work with other Process Engineers and be responsible for mentoring and training them on these assignments as needed

Job Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in chemical or environmental engineering field is preferred for this position
  • Professional Engineer certification and Board Certified Environmental Engineer (Wastewater Specialist) licensure preferred
  • Fifteen or more years of experience in the field of industrial water/wastewater, treatment plant design is required.  Biological and phys/chem treatment design understanding is required
  • Proven experience in complex project integrated systems with multiple unit processes is required
  • Extensive experience in at least two of the following market sectors: Power, Oil & Gas Upstream, Oil & Gas Downstream, Mining & Metals, Food & Beverage
