Job Description

Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

Veolia Regeneration Services has a need for an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to provide EHS coordination and oversight for the James River (Richmond, VA) Facility.  This position has potential to develop into a larger role supporting multiple sites within next 1-2 years.
 
 
Responsibilities:
The EHS Coordinator will perform tasks including, but not limited to the following:
•        Directs project/program activities of EHS for continuous improvement of safety performance.
•        Member of site staff responsible for fostering the behaviors of plant personnel to drive Veolia Core Values
•        Leads Injury/Illness managing processes and OSHA recordkeeping.
•        Responsible for maintenance of Safety Performance metrics and analysis of leading and lagging indicators to develop proactive safety improvement plans.  Leads and/or provides support for EHS improvement projects .Participates in process safety startup reviews, job safety analyses, and task risk assessments.
•        Ensure the site is in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and meets expectations of Veolia’s EHS standards.  Stay abreast of applicable standards and regulations and implement changes to address changes to requirements.  
•        Coordinates 2nd party audits schedule and execution (PSM, SHE, Injury/Illness, Fire, Electrical, Environmental, etc.). Develops and implements plans to resolve any audit findings for PSM, S&OH, Fire, Distribution and Environmental assessments.    Audits corrective action database to ensure PHA, PSM recommendations are being addressed
•        Manage air, water, and waste programs. 
•        Manage specific EHS issues and incidents.  Leads and participates in incident investigations, provide root cause failure analysis support to investigation, and ensure systems are in place to complete recommendations and effectiveness checks in a timely fashion.
•        Assess EHS impacts of proposed changes, obtain permit modifications, and develop and implement EHS programs and procedures to address new or changing requirements. 
•        Collaborate closely with EHS counterparts in the sulfuric acid circuit, and corporate personnel through a variety of networks.

Job Requirements

Education, Experience and Personal Characteristics:
•        BS or higher degree in environmental science, engineering or related discipline. In lieu of degree, minimum 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
•        Experience with management systems (PSM, RCMS).
•        Must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision. 
•        Ability to multi-task, deal with fast changing and sometimes conflicting priorities, and who possesses strong organizational skills. 
•        Ability to collaborate, networking skills, and interpersonal relations are important to the job.
