Job Description

The Electrician performs a variety of maintenance functions at water production and related facilities. Engages in electrical and mechanical installation projects and maintenance of existing electrical, electronic, instrumentation and controls, and service equipment.Performs complex circuit diagnoses and troubleshooting. Works with other departments of the Company as assigned.
• Interprets plans and specifications for projects.
• Performs installation of 480 voltand lower voltage circuits for power and lighting.
• Works independently or withcontractor to maintain high voltage circuits.
• Installs electrical and electronicequipment according to the plans and specifications.
• Prepares and updates drawings.
• Lays out work to be performedafter diagnosing and troubleshooting problems.
• Determines and performs necessaryrepairs to electric power and lighting circuits and electrical and electronicequipment.
• Performs tests for temperature vibration,noise, current, voltage, insulation level, and calibration as required
• Adjusts, lubricates, and repairssmall motors, motor controllers, telemetry equipment, PLC equipment, meteringequipment, water treatment equipment, transmission and distribution equipmentincluding pumps, standby engines, heating and ventilation equipment, bleedervalves, motor wells, battery sets and chargers, and generators.
• Handles materials and equipmentsuch as electric, electronic, and environmental test equipment, portable handand electric tools, and pumping units, etc.
• Ensures the documentation ofequipment maintenance history through the use of the MMS System.
• Works independent of or withoperation’s division personnel, contractors or engineering as required.
• Submits requisitions for tools andmaterials; ensures inventory used is documented in the MMS System.
• Documents vehicle and equipmentuse.
• Develops or modifies StandardMaintenance Procedures (SMP's).
• Assists in training personnel asassigned.
• Troubleshoots and repairs Scadasystem problems at assigned facilities.
• Performs routine checks on Scadasystem alarms to ensure function.


Job Requirements

- A high school diploma or generaleducation degree (GED) is required.
- Completion of one year (24 credithours) of a technical degree from an accredited program at a recognized schoolof engineering and technology or technical institute or equivalent inelectronics or electricity.
- Ability to undertake additionaleducation to update skills as needed.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word andExcel programs.
- Knowledge of the National ElectricCode.
- Knowledge of medium and lowvoltage power and lighting circuits.
- Knowledge of programmable logiccontrollers.
- Knowledge of Company safety andenvironmental procedures.
- Ability to operate a personalcomputer and appropriate software.
- Ability to participate in theCompany's Respiratory Protection Program.
- Knowledge of applicable OSHAstandards.
- Ability to maintain responsibleuse and care of hand tools furnished by the Company.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring schematics.
- Ability to drive a vehicle.
- Ability to apply concepts such asfractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Knowledge and understanding ofScada system operations.
- Ability to diagnose controlfailures related to power or communications.
- Leadership ability anddependability in performance of duties when working alone.
- Ability to read and interpretoperations and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Be able to work outside in hot andcold conditions.
- Ability to work with RCMmaintenance program.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Must be able to pass a drug screenand criminal background check.
