Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Assists with the implementation of core Environmental, Health, Safety and Security issues for assigned operations. Trains, monitors and coaches team members to improve skill levels for managing HS&ES initiatives. Leads efforts to ensure adherence to corporate principles, policies and standards to improve environmental, health, safety, and security and processes in a reliable and cost effective manner.

This position will be based out of Cranston, RI. Responsibilities will also include supporting other northeast regional projects in MA, RI and CT as needed and working with and at the direction of the Regional EHS Manager.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or BS with a major in chemistry, environmental science, water resources or the equivalent required. Working knowledge of EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Hazards Administration) regulations and requirements.

Working knowledge of State and Federal laws, local ordinances, and other rules and regulations associated with facility and employee safety and security.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Emergency response, first-aid and CPR skills.

Two to five years directly related experience with some internal experience preferred in order to know the business and organizational structure, management and administrative procedures, processes and systems.

Experience in water or wastewater treatment and environmental compliance is highly preferable
