Job Description

Job Summary:
Responsible for administering designated environmental, health, and safety programs and related policies and procedures.  Acts in a liaison capacity with management personnel regarding interpretation of all policies and procedures pertaining to technical support and guidance on industrial hygiene, reactive and explosive, OHSA, substance abuse testing, accident prevention, etc.  Assists in the training of emergency response techniques, safety management, risk assessment, etc. and maintains appropriate safety standards.        
 
Education/Experience:
•         Associates degree in related field required, Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred
•         3 to 5 years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience preferred.
•         2 years in a problem-solving capacity preferred 
 
Certification/Licenses:
•         40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
•         Valid Drivers License
 
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
•         Familiarity with OSHA, RCRA, DOT, and other applicable regulations
•         “Hands-On” experience and technical knowledge of “plant-critical” industrial health and safety standards including, but not limited to, Confined Space Entry, Personal Protective Equipment, Fire Safety, Emergency Response, Control of Hazardous Energy, Medical Surveillance, Root cause analysis, and workplace chemical exposure assessments and exposure control methodologies.
•         Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite, CMS, Tracer, Compliance Suite, DOT)
•         Strong team player
•         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•         Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines
•         Strong customer orientation
•         Ability to travel up to 10%
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•      Administers programs pertaining to OHSA, medical surveillance, substance abuse testing to avoid potential liabilities and to maintain a viable workforce at all Veolia Central Branch locations as required.
•      Administers industrial hygiene programs as well as modifies existing plans to meet the needs of the facility.
•      Participates on improvement teams while making appropriate recommendations to facilitate the needs at various facilities.
•      Provides guidance to all levels of management within the facility regarding utilization of appropriate practices in conjunction with regulatory requirements and changes, if necessary.
•      Provides training in environmental, OSHA, DOT, EPA, site remediation, reactive chemical operations, emergency response, etc. as needed or requested by the facility.
•      Provides appropriate research and analysis to support the development of existing and/or potential new EH&S  policies as determined by facility management or required by federal, state, or local governmental agencies.  
•      Administers computer programs required to support EH&S Department.
•      Conducts safety and environmental inspections at Central Branch locations and Customer sites.
