Job Description

The Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator ensures health and safety and environment compliance and provides support for achieving such compliance.

Responsabilities
  • Conduct compliance audits (environmental, health and safety) on site, submit recommendations, help while results are pending and ensure follow up of corrective actions;
  • Standardize, update and draft documents and procedures associated with files processed;
  • Ensure follow-up of environmental incidents and work accidents;
  • If necessary, train employees on the application of certain regulations and procedures related to the health, safety and environment at work;
  • Conduct investigations of incidents and accidents and follow up of corrective actions;
  • Collaborate to update the site emergency plans;
  • Respond to customers audit questionnaires, and is attend and support during the audit as required;
  • Supervise hygiene campaigns annually;
  • Monitor the site when shutdown;
  • Participate to health and safety committees;
  • Complete job walks at customer sites or Veolia Facilities at least weekly.
  • Facilitate the development of Job Safety Analysis and lead safety meetings/toolbox talks jointly with operational leaders during these visits as appropriate;
  • Together with local operations and safety personnel, complete safety and/or operational training on a regular basis at all Veolia Offices within your area or responsibility at least Quarterly;
  • Participate actively in the local Safety Committee process at all locations within your area of responsibility. Coordinate site visit schedule to participate “in- person” whenever possible;
  • Develop a Compliance Schedule and Complete EHST self – assessments in accordance with the provisions of the self-assessment policy for your area of responsibility;
  • Ensure that self- assessments include a field-activity observation component;
  • Use a standardized system (Dakota Tracer or approved Equivalent) to track the resolution of all audit issues to completion;
  • Implement Behavioral Based Safety Program for your group;
  • Administer and manage safety management software including but not limited to Dakota Auditor/Tracer, ISNET, ComplyWorks, Browz, PICS/Avetta, Triple-I, Risk Connect.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • Health and Safety related certificate/ degree or demonstrates substantial experience in this field;
  • Experience in safety Management Software such as Dakota Auditor/Tracer, ISNET, ComplyWorks, Browz, PICS/Avetta, Triple-I, Risk Connect considered an asset.

Experience
  • 2-5 years of experience in an industrial area;
  • Knowledge of industrial services industry;
  • Use of auditing and issue resolution software an asset.

Work environment


Spends 50% of time traveling on the site for external and internal audits, 50% in an office environment. Occasional exposure to the petrochemical plant environment is required when traveling.  Ability to wear respirator, to climb ladders and work in hot/cold remote environments.
