Environmental Health and Safety Associate

This position reports to and supports the initiatives and activities of a [regional or business group] Director or Manager of H&S within the Management Systems and H&S Department. As such, the H&S Associate will take a supporting, and at times, a leadership role in the development, implementation, and on-going assessment of policies, procedures, written work practices, and other program components related to the VNA Management System and H&S program – thus enabling continuous improvement towards maintaining high standards of quality, reliability, safety and compliance across the company.

Job Requirements

- A minimum of 3 years experience as an environmental, health, safety professional.
- High School Diploma.
- Associate or Bachelor Degree in a science, safety, or environmental health field is strongly preferred.
- Course work in Management Systems (e.g. ISO certification), a plus.
- Course work in water/wastewater treatment, a plus.
- Working knowledge of EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Hazards Administration), and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements.
- Competence in research processes including data collection and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports.
- Demonstrated proficiency in thinking creatively, problem identification & resolution and project planning & implementation.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, presentation and listening) to interact with internal customers, clients and governmental entities.  
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, plan, organize and set priorities.
- Extensive travel (>60%) required.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record
- Ability to respond to emergency situations as an %22on-call%22 resource at all times.
- Must be able to pass drug and criminal background screening
