J O B D E S C R I P T I O N:
Veolia is seeking an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to support all plant and field operations by maintenance and repair of all electrical systems, instrumentation, controls and equipment in the City of Kenner, LA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The I&E Tech will perform skilled work requiring a high degree of precision and understanding of technical data and systems. The I&E Tech often works alone and must be aware of circumstances that can contribute to the injury of personnel and damage of equipment.
  • Conform to plant safety and environmental requirements accepting responsibility for personal safety including the use of personal protective equipment, hazard assessments, housekeeping and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Will provide technical support and assist in inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining a variety of moderately complex instrumentation and electrical equipment to include control systems, sensors, analyzers, electrical motors, pneumatic instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, remote IO, communication links, etc.
  • To insure optimum performance of equipment and process.
  • Assist with equipment failure analysis and repair.
  • Interpret and troubleshoot PLC and associated controls, Electrical MCC systems, controls and field instruments.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motor control circuits and equipment including VFD’s, soft starters and motor control circuits.
  • Assist in the repair of existing problems by utilizing a variety of electrical testers/devices to determine possible causes for problem situations.
  • Dismantle a variety of electrical devices to gain access to and remove defective parts and reassemble and test for optimum performance.
  • Assists in the repair and/or replacement of functional parts of control instruments and ability to interpret instructions and diagrams in correcting existing problems.
  • Install and maintain electrical distribution centers.
  • Test energized systems.
  • Fabricate and install electrical conduit systems.
  • Maintain electrical controls at all lift stations and at plant.
  • Take rotating on-call on holidays and weekends.
  • Able to assist maintenance crew with repairs other than electrical at times.

Job Requirements

  • High school or GED(Accredited in Louisiana) with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions. 
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of electrical controls and electronics or carrying a valid journeyman electrician’s license would be a major plus. Wastewater license as required by regulatory agencies at site would also be a plus.
  • At least two years experience in a related position in a similar environment with ability to comprehend complex specifications, wiring diagrams, process control operations, preventative maintenance procedures, corrective maintenance procedures, electrical schematics, blueprints and manuals, and development of new operating ideas..
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE (Personal
  • Protection Equipment), including gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.)
  • Must consistently demonstrate the ability to perform all assigned tasks in an organized, accurate and timely manner.
  • Must demonstrate ability to efficiently maintain, install and repair any electrical equipment which may include pumps, blowers, compressors and other electrically driven equipment.
  • Must have the ability to diagnose problems, troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
