Job Description

Responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks in the movement and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials including disassembly, sorting, packing, re-packing, and loading and unloading. Operates equipment such as lamp processors, distillation ovens, pallet trucks, forklifts, bailers, compactors, air compressors, and hand tools.Work is performed in a warehouse/plant environment and involves occasional exposure to weather. 

Assist with the off-loading of vehicles delivering lamps and other universal waste. Sorting and packaging universal waste batteries and non - TSCA lamp ballast. Sorting and preparing lamps for processing. Prepares packaging for shipment. Cleans area as require and completes all required paperwork on a daily basis.  Overtime will vary according to volume of incoming material.

•Maintains a safe and compliant work environment at all times. Works safely and wears appropriate PPE for task.
•Complies with all environmental, health and safety policies and procedures. 
•Loads and unloads various materials such as pallets, totes, drums, etc.
•Constructs packaging/boxes/containers and prepares for shipment. 
•Uses a variety of hand tools such as impact wrenches, drum carts, and saws.
•Moves material within the facility using appropriate equipment such as hand trucks, pallet trucks, forklifts, etc. 
•Dismantles/sorts materials for recycling/disposal. Process fluorescent lamps and mercury contaminated material in recycling equipment.
•Operates and performs routine inspections on recycling equipment. 
•Prepares by-product materials for shipment.
•Assists in completing paperwork for processing/transportation of materials.
•Performs general housekeeping duties and maintains a clean, organized and safe work area.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • One-year experience in warehouse environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules or standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics 
  • Previous experience in waste recycling is helpful, but not necessary.
  • Mechanical aptitude is beneficial
  • Must be forklift certified or acquire certification.
