Our Gulf Coast branch provides services for our customers located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. Within the Gulf Coast branch, Veolia operates a hazardous waste incinerator in Port Arthur, TX, a service center in Baytown, TX and a service center in College Park, GA. The Gulf Coast branch offers the following services: Lab Chemical Services, On-Site Services, Transportation, Household Hazardous Waste, Reactive Chemicals, Remediation, Training Services, Specialty Services, Drum Management, Incineration, Fuels Blending, Recycling and Radioactive Waste Management. 

Job Summary: 

Responsible for providing and administering environmental, health, and safety programs and related policies and procedures affecting the company’s existing and/or proposed environmental health and safety issues.  Responsible for safety based oversight of the Veolia employees, contractors and visitors to the SAS site.  Acts in a liaison capacity with EH&S and H&S personnel regarding interpretation of all policies and procedures, pertaining to technical support and guidance on industrial hygiene, OHSA, substance abuse testing, accident prevention, etc.  On an as-needed basis provides and assists in the training of emergency response techniques, safety management, risk assessment, etc. to maintain appropriate safety standards.  This position will also have  some operational responsibilities in the following areas:  Recycling and Bulk.       
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

•         Identify gaps and areas for improvements and implement safety practices as well as escalation, documentation, and safety-based corrective action.
•         Provides weekly updates during Vendor-Sponsor meeting; time will be used to evaluate Veolia’s onsite activities.
•         Responds to all safety issues and observations from the SAS Waste Team.  Will work closely with SAS Environmental Technicians or others as required.
•         Must review all safety concerns, decide upon contributing factors and complete a root cause analysis to be provided to the customer in written format after discussing with Veolia Leadership.
•         Implement industrial hygiene programs as well as modifying existing plans to meet the needs of the facility(s). Responsible for ensuring Veolia onsite employees receive all onboarding training necessary to meet minimum SAS site requirements.
•         Responsible for ensuring employee training are current and maintained.
•         Reviews all Pre-Task Plans (PTP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents before they are put into effect.  Final approvals must be coordinated with a member of the SAS Waste Team.
•         Responsible for all Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for Veolia onsite operations.  JHAs are required after each major change in process and work with SAS Team Members before implementation.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
•         Familiarity with OSHA, RCRA, DOT, and other applicable regulations
•         Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite
•         Strong team player
•         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•         Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines
•         Strong customer orientation
•         Extensive knowledge in health and safety methodologies

•         BS in Science or a Safety related field required; HS Diploma or GED Required
•         3 to 5 years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience preferred.
•         3 years minimum in a problem-solving capacity

•         40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
•         8-hour DOT Certification
•         8-hour RCRA Certification
•         OSHA 511 Certification
