Job Description

The Payroll Shared Services Center (SSC) Supervisor provides support to all Veolia North America customers. Responsibilities to include: assisting the SSC Administrators with problem-solving and implementing best practices, overseeing payroll processing for Salary, Hourly, Union, In/Ex-Pat employees, and maintaining the integrity of HR/Payroll data. This position will keep informed about changes in Federal and State laws as they pertain to Payroll processing and Human Resources procedures, work as a team with the other SSC members, and interact with the Director and Managers on project work.

•Direct supervision of Payroll Administrator staff
•Ensure consistent treatment of departmental controls and procedures.
•Training new employees on department policies and payroll processing procedures
•Assist with new business acquisitions and divestitures
•Maintain and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all employee files
•Ensures the integrity of all HRIS records including employee information, reporting relationships, position codes, etc.
•Escalate issues to payroll processing vendor, ADP, as needed via CRM tickets.
•Contribute to the implementation of best practices within the department; assist in training others in specialized areas
•Ensure on-going Internal Control compliance
•Project work as needed
•Work closely with and have a good understand of the payroll dependencies for Human Resources, Data Entry, Payroll Tax and Payroll General Ledger.
•Responsible for the successful completion of all payroll Tax, Garnishment, Cash and GL posting files.

Job Requirements

Educational Background
•High School education or G.E.D.
•Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
•Payroll CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred, but not required

Job Skills/Characteristics
•Strong knowledge of payroll requirements; including all employer and employee statutory and non-statutory items for the United States and Canada
•Advance ability in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with good vocabulary, grammar and a passion for excellence in customer service
•Excellent command of English—fluency in Spanish or French desired
•Excellent organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment while paying significant attention to detail required
•Ability to be a change agent; to research, recommend and implement process improvements and enhancements to create efficiencies and effectiveness
•Work with department management as it relates to government audits and/or required reporting
•Must possess the ability to exercise independent judgment

•Minimum 5 years directly related experience in Payroll required with thorough knowledge of departmental functions, procedures and terminology; and inter-departmental relationships
•Excellent working knowledge of SAP for payroll processing
•Minimum 2 years’ experience working with a Time Labor Management system required
•Shared Services Center experience preferred, but not required
•Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) experience required
•Previous experience in a leadership role required.
