Veolia North America has an immediate need and exciting opportunity for a Senior HR Generalist in Maple Ridge, BC. 


Job Summary
Provides HR support in all areas including communications, recruiting, staffing, employee relations and labor relations, workforce analysis, reporting, policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance. Helps to ensure effective delivery of human resources services in support of business operations.

Primary Duties 

  • Acts as the primary daily HR representative amongst the assigned geographical region for all question related to recruitment, HR, labor relations and employee relations;

  • Talent acquisition – A primary focus of the job will be recruiting activities with a strong focus on Engineers (Recruitment, assisting hiring managers with screening and selection processes and post hire/onboarding activities);

  • Supports Operational Managers answering general process questions,regarding employee workplace policy violations, causes for disciplinary action and reasons for performance improvement plans.  Escalates complex issues to HR leadership.

  • Able to answer and support general labor relations questions and/or guide through the collective agreements. May provide “back room” support to labor negotiations team, researching cost of benefits, wage information, creating benefits comparisons, and any other information requested by team.

  • Completes HR administrative tasks such as, assisting employees with general HR questions, HR report maintenance, scheduling interviews, creating job posts, organizing candidate travel, and collecting data for labor negotiations.

  • Helps maintain and report on accurate HR information including, but not limited to; organization charts, job descriptions, employee data, employee headcount, turnover and other HR metrics.

  • Responsible for collecting required approvals and completing accurate processing of employee information and HRIS data changes. 

  • Responsible of data accuracy in all HRIS (OneHub, Veolution, etc.);

  • Partners with HR leadership on HR initiatives such as benefits administration, annual merit and incentive campaigns, training programs, on-boarding initiatives, individual performance programs and other various HR projects.

  • Supports HR compliance and proactively identifies areas of potential non-compliance.

  • Makes recommendations and assists with revisions to HR policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
  • Canadian HR or Industrial Relations professional certification.
  • 1 to 3 years previous HR experience required.
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) coupled with strong interpersonal skills; adept at working with a variety of personalities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute duties independently without need for direct supervision.
  • Efficient time management skills to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Solid customer focus supporting a multi-state matrix organization.
