Job Summary:
  • The Shift Supervisor directs and manages the wastewater treatment operations and processes on a rotating shift to ensure safe continuity of operations, the execution of proper technical procedures and management policies that result in cost-effective VW contract compliance and compliance with all applicable permits and regulations.


Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Grade 4 WWTP Operator Certification from the California SWRCB that has been in effect a minimum of one (1) year at the time the proposal is submitted in response to this requirement.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum three (3) years of experience as an on-site Grade III Shift Supervisor for activated sludge with aeration tanks wastewater treatment facilities of equal or greater capacity of 25 MGD, or a minimum of three (3) years of experience at the SBIWTP.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and operations of activated sludge with aeration tanks facilities.
  • Knowledge and skills in the processes and methods of wastewater treatment, biosolids handling programs, air emissions systems and standards, laboratory standard methods for water and wastewater operations and maintenance procedures for related equipment.
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws pertaining to wastewater treatment facility with a NPDES permit.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations.
  • Ability to provide first aid, CPR.
